In December I took a step back from Tik Tok. Not for any real reason, I just needed one less âwhat to check on your phoneâ chore. I believed that I would become a better human being and that my brain would function at a record speed during this cleanse (it was stop Tik Tok or have a lobotomy), but to be honest the only change I observed was that I wasnât shopping as much. It has become so hard to sift through the influencer ads, trend wheels, the social media doctors online!! 90% of what I would watch would convince me to go Google âdoes_____ product reaaaalllyyyyy workâ.
So this is, ironically, what brought me to do a âwhatâs in my make up bagâ. Everything that I am about to show you has been in my caboodle for more that 6 months. I honestly want to say a year, but technically youâre supposed to throw make up away after 12 months. However I donât and wonât be doing that. Sorry :).
I am sharing products that I have loved for some time now, because I have used them to the GROUND. My goal is to share products not in a sell sell way, but in a girrrlllll let me tell you why I have gotten the same foundation for the past 4 years⌠kinda way. I just want to kiki about make up mmkkayyy.
*warning all images of my make up are tragic and have smudges and grime on them (oops). The reality is they get USED.
Complexion Products
Two words DOUBLE WEAR! Estee Lauder Double Wear I started using my junior year of college and I havenât put the bottle down since. I know I know this is the âgrandmaâ product of the group, but sheâs timeless. Every time I wear it I get complimented about my skin, so thatâs proof enough. I apply with my foundation brush (from It Cosmetics lol), never a sponge, and will never stop using. She can be used as an every day foundation, but I choose to save her for the weekends, or special events because she pricey.
This shy but cute combo has my heart. Haus Labs concealer and the Sephora brand concealer brush. I put my concealer every where I see redness and then donât see redness again until I wash my face at night! I have bought this concealer on repeat since a friend told me what she was using and had no visible pores on her face, so TRUST. Haus Labs also works great with a beauty blender, I just have been vibing heavy on the brush mode.
Setting powder used to be a haux to me. Just another reason to by an extra product. But one time in college I got the travel size Laura Mercier loose powder and was stunneddddd. It set my my make up perfectly. My Rihanna forehead (no hate) was no longer reflecting signals to NASA with its shine. Imo everyone who is oily should have this. Also I got the talc free one because I freaked myself out about talc once (donât want to explain, but yes it had to do with cancer).
Cheek
I caved about 2 years ago and bought into the Saie brand. I say caved because I was so âthis is a flash in the pan new brand that is using purple like Glossier used bb pinkâ. They also used to have only 3 bronzer shades which was diabolical to me to have such a small amount in the 21st century. However Saie has grown up. They have expanded their range and have products that I have bought over and over, which are these two little suckers above me. The Glowy Super Gel on the left and the Dew Blush Liquid on the right are also apart of my every day routtine. They go well with a full face and also with just throwing some blush on before running out the door. Plus these bottles has lasted with me over 6 months, so worth every coin.
Eyes
Danessa Myricks is Pat McGrath but more affordable. All of her palettes and color pigments are so bright and creamy it almost makes me want to breathe them in and hold them tightly?? Itâs the same feeling you get when you want to take a bite out of a babies cheek. Anyways this particular palette, Groundwork Palette Defining Neutrals, has both cream and powder side by side of each color. Magnificent. I mainly use my finger and put the cream colors everywhere, because you can use this palette for eyes, lip, and face. I then will put the powder shadow over the cream I put on my eyes to set it in place. For my og make up heads THIS is the upgrade Naked palette.
Brows
This trio is all I have done for my brows. I brush them through â> I use Glossier Brow Flick to fill in any sparse areas â> then I set them with the tried and true Got2be Glued. That is all I want to talk about brows because they bore me, but just know that you would have to take me to court for full custody of this routine in order for me to try something new. :)
Lip
My 2nd favorite part of a make up routine is the lip. Lip products are so easy to get and so easy to play around with. I enjoy shaping my look around how my lips will be decorated. I have plenty of more products in my âkitâ but these are the ones I always go back to. Milani Lip Oil is drugstore, but she treats me like Iâm a princess. I slap that on my lips with a liner of choice and Iâm basically putting my lips in a Bugatti. Fenty Gloss, I was first introduced to because I took one that was left after a wedding at the bar because no girl came to claim, so I had me a little sample (letâs not think of the cleanliness of it all). Fenty Gloss also puts my lips in a Bugatti, but with a trip to The Corner Store because she got me on the list. The two cute liners on the right are from Colourpop and also Milani. The price is RIGHT let me tell YOU! I have to reapply the liners maybe once in a night, but since I mainly use gloss itâs inevitable that I would need to reapply at least once after Iâve scarfed down my burrata. These liners are my perfect tone and I just like them a lot so there!
BIG HONORABLE MENTIONS:
About Face: Sheâs that girl when I want color!! Her matte fluid eye paints are perfect to splash some color on the lid and pop some liner on the lower lash and mmmm, its everything.
Topicals: I JUST tapped into their lip salves and I have both colors and use daily. Rhode will have to do some regrouping once she hits Sephoraâs shelves let me tell you THAT. Perfect for dry lips while also giving me va va voom to a sweat pant and jeans fit.
REALLY QUICKLY MY DONâT BUYS: (theyâre in time-out so they donât get pictures)
Saie Cream Bronzer: I still use it because Iâm broke, but I hate using it every time. I got this when Saie had only those three shadesâŚ
Rhode Pocket Blush: formula is fine, I think I just didnât get a color I actually liked because when I put it on I have to mix with another blush or Piggy doesnât show up well (smh).
Glossier Foundation: its meh, once again I still use it because Iâm broke. It just does not pull me in for more.
Elf Hydro Grip Primer: I still kind of donât believe in face primer unless it is a spray and this is a gel and itâs not gelling with me (:////).
Well that was fun!! (slams caboodle shut)
